El Camino de Santiago

For those that don't know, The Camino de Santiagoalso known by the English names Way of St. JamesSt. James's WaySt. James's PathSt. James's TrailRoute of Santiago de Compostela, and Road to Santiago, is the name of any of the pilgrimage routes, known as pilgrim ways, (most commonly the Camino Francés or French route) to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compstela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. Many take up this route as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth. This is the route that Lucy and I will be walking starting on June 1st (refer to the map below - ignore Bilbao) we start in France at St. Jean Pied de Port and quite simply follow the line(ish). Stats for mum: An estimated 250,000 walk the pilgrimage each year, starting at various points and about 12% start in SJPDP (you do the math on that one). Roughly 5 weeks is a comfortable time to allow for a couple of rest days, and an average of 20kms-25kms per day.
